Clear acrylic signs printed front or back
An alternative to our standard acrylic signs, printed clear acrylic is something a bit different and will definitely turn heads. Sometimes known as clear Perspex or clear polypropylene, it’s the same 5mm thick hard plastic as our standard acrylic but is 100% optically clear.
We can print to the front face or we can print in reverse to the back face. Printing in reverse on the back means the image is the correct way round when viewed from the front.
Printing on the reverse means the viewer is looking through the acrylic, giving an unparalleled glossy finish and oodles of depth. We really like the effect, but it’s entirely up to you which surface we print to.
Optional white ink printing
Printing coloured inks onto a clear material is a bit different to printing onto a white material. The coloured inks are somewhat translucent. If you’re mounting your sign to a white wall, this won’t matter. However, if the sign is against a different coloured background, the inks will have a ‘stained glass’ effect.
We can mitigate this by printing white ink. The white ink can either be spot printed behind the coloured inks, or it can be flood filled across the whole sign. When the coloured inks are printed over white, they are fully opaque and vivid.
Any areas where there is no coloured ink and no white ink will be completely transparent.
Please note: there is no point in flood filling with white ink if your print is on the front of the acrylic – you might as well order a standard white acrylic sign.
Clear acrylic signs are versatile
- Can be drilled for fixing (but ask us to do this on our laser cutter, it’s hard to drill by hand)
- Can be screwed to a wall
- Can be used with stand off mounts
- Don’t rot or swell
- Can be lasered to shape
Clear acrylic signs are great for:
- Interior signage – easy to fix to any wall
- Shop signs
- Retail signage
- Photo booth signs/screens
- Menu boards
- Exhibition graphics
- Art installations
Have your signs cut to shape
Our acrylic signs can be contour cut to any shape (including internal cuts for creating slots and windows). Just choose the contour-cut option from the form above and supply artwork with a suitable vector cut-line (check out our artwork guidelines for more information).
Our industry-leading, large format laser cutter ensures your sign will be cut precisely to shape. Even better, the laser polishes the edge when it cuts leaving the best finish possible with this material.
Alternatives to clear acrylic signs
If you’re looking for an outdoor sign that is going to be subject to a high wind load, you might also prefer an aluminium dibond sign.
